My Philosophy "In your life, you should find the things that make you the happiest and pursue them. Some people make massage a hobby, and some make it a lifestyle. From my very first massage, to the client that I worked on today, I can honestly say massage is my life." The Benefits of Massage The foundations of healing are intricately and profoundly present in touch. Perhaps one of the most widely stated complaints about modern medicine is that physicians rarely touch their patients anymore. Fortunately, society's growing understanding and acceptance of massage is helping to fill this void. The growing availability of therapeutic massage is providing people with the opportunity to benefit from the healing qualities of touch. Massage therapy falls into two general categories, relaxation and treatment. Both affect many of the body's systems to the cellular level. Relaxing the body can increase the release of growth hormones that will assist in immune system recovery. Addressing specific areas of concern and injury can increase range of motion, decrease scar tissue, and speed healing. A balanced sense of well being is supported by the beneficial effect massage has on our bodies physically, psychologically, and spiritually. These effects are achieved via mechanical and reflexive means. Massage techniques that directly effect the muscle tissue or joint position are categorized as mechanical. Such techniques may include vibration, direct pressure, stretching and rage of motion. Techniques such as gliding, kneading and light vibration produce their effects by secondarily stimulating the nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems. When stimulated, these systems help to reduce pain, increase blood flow, aid in waste removal, lower blood pressure and increase relaxation. I am well versed in this knowledge and will utilize a unique combination of techniques to provide you with a session geared for your personal needs.
